2009-2010 Valley Center Trails Association

Victoria Bausone - Webmaster

I was born and raised in Northern Virginia, just outside of Washington D.C.  I earned my BS in Biology/Pre-Veterinary Studies at Randoph-Macon Women’s College and began pursuing my Masters in Avian Sciences at UC Davis when my husband, an LA native, changed jobs and we moved to Southern California.  I began working for the San Diego Zoo as an Incubation Specialist for the Avian Propagation Center and he continued work as a Veterinarian in Escondido.

We moved to Valley Center 8 years ago while searching for a more rural area where we could keep our horses, raise a family and have a sense of community.   We have 2 young boys who I stay at home with now and enjoy seeing life through their eyes.  We have certainly found our community, and in addition to being a part of VCTA, I am the Varsity Girls Lacrosse Coach at Valley Center High School and was a Junior Girls Coach before that.   My husband and I are avid backpackers and now enjoy sharing the trails and hiking with our sons. We are naturalists at heart and love to camp, bike and horseback ride.

Having grown up in the Northern Virginia/ Washington D.C area, I had a plethora of trails and pathways available to me to hike, bike, horseback ride and stroll.  The amazing amount of both backcountry and in town trails united the communities and made for independence and exploration, all with limited driving necessity.  In Davis, we also were able to follow the greenbelts from one side of town to the other and rarely even used our cars because it was simply a pleasure to bike, rollerblade or walk to work, town or across town and into the next.

This is my wish for Valley Center, to unite the community with trails for recreation and for useful safe passage so that we can all enjoy the beauty that surrounds us.  So that my children can walk safely to school, or to the library, and so that I can continue to enjoy my horses and the outdoors without having to get in my car.
